Greenwired was called in to address a failed solar installation at this seaside facility in our service area that had been compromised by poor design choices and inappropriate equipment selection.
The original local solar company had installed a non-maintenance-free battery system that quickly failed due to lack of proper upkeep, along with an indoor-rated inverter that was placed outdoors in a salt air environment.
Within less than five years, the inverter had completely corroded due to salt intrusion, leaving the customer without a functioning solar system. The primary challenge was to source a reliable, cost-effective alternative solution that would meet the client's energy needs while working within a limited budget and harsh coastal conditions.
The Solution
Engineered for Endurance
To overcome these installation failures, Greenwired implemented a complete system redesign focused on durability and low maintenance requirements. The team installed Midnite Power Flo 16 batteries specifically chosen for their maintenance-free operation and consistent performance in challenging environments.
The failed indoor inverter was replaced with an outdoor-rated NHX-5kW Split Phase 120V/240V Hybrid inverter, designed to withstand the coastal salt air that had destroyed the previous equipment.
This strategic equipment selection ensured the new system could operate reliably in the harsh environmental conditions while providing the necessary power output for the client's entrance lighting and security needs
