The Challenge
There were multiple challenges/obstacles at this installation:
No Pre Existing System
There was no pre existing HVAC system or duct system in the home
No attic or crawl space
No attic or crawl space so we had to run the ducting through a conditioned space and chased it in later (build a small wall around the exposed ducting).
Multi zone design
This was a multi zone design which required foresight to be able to meet those needs, along with design needs to allow the equipment to run properly and efficiently.
The Solution
Upgrading from DIY Heating to Premium Climate Contro
This home had unique heating and air set up prior to our installation. The furnace replaced a loose fan in a closet that drew air from a grate at the top of their stairwell and blew air down a chase to cinder blocks being used as duct work inside of a concrete slab.
The system installed was a Lennox Elite Series 97% 2 stage gas furnace with an I-Comfort 4 Zone, zone controlled, System and a Pure Air air purifier.
The customer needed an efficient HVAC system that could deferentially meet the house zoning needs.
One of the occupants was sensitive to allergens, so the air purifier assisted with remedying that for their household.
The house was occupied during our installation so we kept our work process as neat as possible by using plastic, drop cloths, and cleaning as we went. We also took into account that one occupant was sensitive to air quality so worked hard to maintain their indoor air quality while completing the job.
The Results
Personalized Comfort for Every Resident
The residents now have a functional heating system. The air purifier also improved their indoor air quality while meeting the individual needs of each resident as one person likes to use wood heat, while the other required a higher indoor air quality than wood stove head allowed for. Now they can have both!
The system installed was a higher end system with unique challenges that took extra ingenuity and effort to solve.

This is a good example of how an HVAC system can be adapted to meet a variety of home occupant needs simultaneously.
